COM(m)O(n) Club Radio is a month-long workshop facilitated by the Brazilian performance artist Thelma Bonavita who invites participants to compose and perform an experimental radio station culminating in a final exhibition.
The purpose of this collective experience is to produce and explore the notion of a common space, where the primary framework is the body and the mind, working together to create a sound environment of ideas in movement - as if one could materialize the act of thinking.
The tools and methodologies of this workshop will be based on the work developed by Como Club, an art platform initiated by Bonavita and that had its last presentation during the official programm of São Paulo Biennial 2014.
Como Club was a self-organised space, that created an atmosphere with its own modes in a playful experimentation manner, creating an environment mostly shaped by its participants.
COMO is a portuguese word that means both HOW and I EAT.
HOW = speculating modes of being, or making things .
I EAT = referring to a Brazilian cultural movement – Anthropophagy, “metabolizing“ the other or the strangeness – cannibalizing – which is very far from an appropriation mechanism.
For this workshop, the participants will transform Agora´s new space into a functioning base to explore its meanings, matter and its entanglements; understanding sound and its elements of transmission as a manner to document the mediums that link us with our surroundings and the riddles of impossibiliy to crack codes and invent.
Works of Karen Barad, Antonio Damasio, Daniel Heller-Roazen, Jack Smith, Fluxus, Lygia Clark, among others – are some of the case studies and ignitions by which the participants will be stimulated to navigated through the workshop. The radio will function as an archive of traces in real time related to how and what is produced.
COM(m)O(n) Club Radio is designed for artists from different backgrounds interested in an inventive, speculative and unexpected project that explores the body's possibilities and our modes of perception as a way to hack into experiences on any kind of media
The entire process will be transformed into a documentation, as sound and audio material, and transmitted by the Affect_radio and a final exhibition at Agora´s new venue on the 27th of August 2016.
